  Get empowered to do it yourself by learning the fundamentals of constructing a basic necklace or bracelet! You will learn finishing techniques and understand the materials, supplies, and tools needed to design your own jewelry. Get comfortable with what to purchase and how to hold the tools properly. In this workshop you will create your own set of mala beads, a strand of prayer beads used in japa or meditation using mantra. Then we will explore mantras and methods of meditation using the mala. You will leave with a set of beautifully handmade mala beads and knowledge of how to use it to harness intention, build focus and clear the mind.

Making earrings, wire links, pendants, and feeling comfortable using the tools will all be illuminated with this technique. Class will cover the ins-and-outs of working with wire, creating simple loops and wrapped loops. Tools provided for use in class and for sale.

Folk Beaded Ornament Bracelet

Learn to create these fun little ornamental beaded beads to weave a bracelet that will go with any outfit! The technique is easier than it looks, and there is a ton of opportunity for playing with color. Making these beads is addictive, you may end up with a necklace.

Let's Get Knotty Workshop

Embellished Wing Pendant Necklace

Level 2   Materials Required

 This class is for students who have gained comfort and prowess with basic wire wrapping skills and want to take it to the next level. This pendant looks really elaborate and can be made several times over with alternate beads for dramatically different effects! Using different gauges of wire for the frame of the pendant as well as the woven aspects, students will create "wing" pendants of their own to embellish as they wish. The techniques covered in class will be wrapping top-drilled beads, weaving with wire, hammering the frame, and the use of Liver of Sulphur for creating a patina on your piece. Materials must be chosen before start of class.

Knotting between beads has many benefits, such as security, added length, and breathing room between beads that lets light in to reflect more beauty. On top of all that, thread color can enhance your designs or serve as a neutral space to highlight the beads. This class covers thread choices, proper tool use, adding a clasp, and of course, getting that knot right up against the bead with no extra spaces. Materials must be purchased before class begins.

This amazing material can be manipulated by rolling, molding, and texturing. Students will create a textured bar pendant using bronze clay.  We will complete the entire green-state process.  Because of the length of time to fire bronze in the kiln (4-6 hours), students can pick up their piece three days after class, during shop hours.  After the firing, it can be oxidized and polished just like traditional jewelry making. Briolette Wrapping

Level 2   Materials Required

Ever bought a beautiful teardrop bead for a project and realize that the hole in the bead does not run from top to bottom like MOST beads, but instead runs across the top of the bead?  So now what?  Time to learn how to wrap briolettes, or any pesky bead which has a horizontally drilled hole.  In this class, you'll learn 2 different methods (take your pick!) to wrap briolettes, and at least 3 different ways to enhance and/or embellish your briolette wrap.  We'll also discuss various design techniques using wrapped briolettes.  This is a quickly learned skill class in wire work.  At least one previous beginner wire wrapping class is a prerequisite for this class.   Instructor will be available at least half-hour before class starts for help with shopping.
