Bar, Bail & Bronze Metal Clay Pendant

  This class is learning about bronze and metal clay. It's also learning how to attach a bail to your piece. This amazing material can be manipulated by rolling, molding, and texturing. Students will create a textured bar pendant using bronze clay.  We will complete the entire green-state process. ** Students can pick up their final piece three days after class, during shop hours.  This is because it takes 2-5 hours to fire bronze in the kiln. After the firing, it can be oxidized and polished just like traditional jewelry making. Briolette Wrapping

  Ever bought a beautiful teardrop bead for a project and realize that the hole in the bead does not run from top to bottom like MOST beads, but instead runs across the top of the bead?  So now what?  Time to learn how to wrap briolettes, or any pesky bead which has a horizontally drilled hole.  In this class, you'll learn 2 different methods (take your pick!) to wrap briolettes, and at least 3 different ways to enhance and/or embellish your briolette wrap.  We'll also discuss various design techniques using wrapped briolettes.  This is a quickly learned skill class in wire work.  At least one previous beginner wire wrapping class is a prerequisite for this class.   Instructor will be available at least half-hour before class starts. Join Julia for a class on wire! Wire wrapping is one of the jewelry making basic skills that every beader should know. Making earrings, wire links, pendants, and having comfort using the tools will all be illuminated with this technique. Class will cover the ins-and-outs of working with wire, creating simple loops and wrapped loops. Tools provided for use in class and for sale.

  In this workshop you will create your own set of mala beads, a strand of prayer beads used in japa or meditation using mantra. Then we will explore mantras and methods of meditation using the mala.   Learn to love those pesky seed beads and hand weave yourself a cool bracelet!  Peyote stitch (also known as gourd stitch) is the classic of bead weaving.  You'll learn about choosing thread, beads, and design basics, as well as how to finish your bracelet with a stylish clasp.  Instructor will be available at least half-hour before class starts for help with shopping.
